New Skirt Joy!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend, I gots me the Sunday night blues!

Today I went shopping with my man, this roughly translates to me shopping and him trailing behind me then saying after 1 hour, "can we go to Nandos?". We did, but before getting our munch on I found this skirt in New Look. The story behind it is we have a huge club night to attend in 2 weeks and the theme is White. I can't (won't) do a full White outfit and did think I would find a nice top to go with one of the many skirts I  already own. However, I found this skirt and fell in love.

The skirt is by Apricot and can be viewed here on the site, it is £25. I love some of the concessions in larger New Look stores and always find something. It is very flattering because of the folded material (technical term alert) and is a denim-ish type material. I'm kind of back to square one now as I need to find a top, but this should be easier now as it doesn't need to be white. You can see I'm not keen on the theme at all as I'm going for the smallest amount of said colour.

My requirements for the top are as follows
  • Sleeves, at least 1/3 because I hate my arms!
  • Something which is going to be comfortable enough to dance in all night
  • Will go with the skirt
Any ideas?

Also, I am actually going to have to exchange the skirt I got for a bigger size. I got the small which fits, but stupid me failed to do the "bend over, jump up and down, and wiggle around" test in the fitting rooms, as this skirt does ride up. The small fits perfectly around the waist but is slightly tight on the thighs, I will get the Medium and probably take it in at the waist with my trusty sewing machine. I always seem to have this problem with fitted skirts....

Hope you all have a good week!

I'm in the mood for hauling!

It has been so long since I blogged. And I haven't really got any excuse apart from it just being Christmas and New Year (we had guest overload!) and work is now very busy which I enjoy! Hope you're all well. Thought I'd start with a haul. I've been a bit crazy with the shopping recently. Most of it has been sale bargains.

Can I just say I am no photography expert, some of the pictures aren't great, but I do try. If you have any advice or can point me in the direction of some easy to follow hints and tips for photography I'd be grateful.

Today I went shopping for one reason, Zara! I went just when the sales had began but I found items I wanted were still quite expensive. I love Zara, and I love it more as I'm getting older because they do some really sophisticated pieces.....non of which I bought, but I like to look at them.

The dress on the left was a steal at £12.99, reduced from £29.99. It sits a couple inches about the knee and has zips on the sleeves and across the front. It looks lovely on and I will get a lot of wear out of it. The top on the right is a bit colour overload and possibly more summery but I think it'll look good tucked in. It was also £12.99, not sure on the original price.

I got this top from Zara just after the sales began and although it was £14.99, originally £20, I couldn't resist. It is so simple but features leather patches on the nigh neck. I have already worn it one, hence the creases because I had just taken it out of the laundry basket.

The next few items have been bought over the past 2 weeks from H&M, which I love just as much as Zara, possibly more because it's more affordable and more handy because there is a branch 5mins walk from my office (danger danger!!!).

These 2 tops are so simple and were at full price £7.99. They are easy to wear and because the pocket and cuffs are slightly satiny, they can be dressed up. And as always with H&M, one colour just isn't enough.

I got this top at the beginning of the week and it's been displayed right at the front of each H&M I've been to (FYI, that's 3!). It was £14.99, full price. I love how H&M have that table at the front which showcases all new items, I always like at least 1 item on it. I wore this top last night on a night out with the girls from work, I tucked the front of it into my dark red corduroy shorts. I always find this sleeve length flattering as well because I don't like my arms.

These 2 dresses have been teasing me since summer and I finally got them. Not sure when I'll wear them, but I got 50% staff discount (our lovely cleaner at work also cleans H&M) making them £5 each. The full price was £14.99, then reduced to £10.

I don't know why but I always struggle to find a black skirt. I have bought and returned around  in the last 2 months due to them just not looking right. This beauty was only £5 in the sale and it looks so nice on, and flatters my chocolate pouch :). I think it's more suitable for play rather than work so the search continues for a staple black work skirt. I did also get this in a gorgeous butterfly purple print but it was too small even though it was the same size, this happens a lot at H&M.

I also popped into Accesorize today and picked up these 2 rings, along with a belt which was too boring to picture. The black one was around £1.80 and the gold one with blingy stones was around £3, an absolute steal.

For no real reason I took a picture of a jacket that I got around £2 years ago in River Island. It was around £55 which was justified as it features small metal rectangles all over it. I try not to wear this too often for fear that it'll ruin but I did get it out last night to go with the H&M shirt above.

And finally the below picture is a random shot of the huge jar of jelly beans I got from my brother for Christmas. I gave a substantial amount to my best friend and her hubby but I'm enjoying having a small handful of these every day.

Hope you all enjoyed this post.

I have a huge club night to attend next month and the theme is white. I'm not going to waste my money on a white dress as I know I won't wear it again and think I'll look for a white top to go with the black skirt above, anyone seen a nice one on the high street or online recently?

Thank you and hope you're all enjoying your weekend.

It's taken me 3 months but it's over!!!

What am I being so dramatic about?! Glossybox. After receiving my 7th Glossybox a week ago I've given up and unsubscribed. I was so disappointed by the last box, it contained bath salts, hand cream, face cream, a perfume, and Nail Rock Nail Wraps. I wasn't excited about any of these products, the only 2 with potential were the hand cream which went straight into my work bad but it's just a hand cream, and the Nail Wraps but they were leopard print.

My favourite products from previous Glossybox's have been -

  • WELEDA (POMEGRANATE REGENERATING BODY OIL) - July
  • HD BROWS (EYE&BROW PALETTE) - September
  • DERMALOGICA AGE SMART - MULTIVITAMiN THERMAFOLIANT - OCTOBER
  • STILA - SMUDGE STICK WATERPROOF EYE LINER IN khaki - OCTOBER
I've definitely given Glossybox time to develop but I feel their selections are getting worse. I still love the idea of a beauty box subscription because I enjoy looking forward to the monthly box being delivered and it's so exciting opening the box. I've done some research and have subscribed to Boudoir Prive. Although the products aren't as large as Glossybox they same to be more suited for me, more cosmetics based. So I'm looking forward to receiving the box which will arrive mid December.

What are your thoughts and experiences with beauty subscriptions?

what have I been up to?

Hope everyone is well!

I haven't had the chance to blog much recently, work is busy and I'm also redecorating. I live with my in laws (not as bad as it sounds!) and we're switching rooms at the moment. The one me and my hubby are moving into is huge but it was decorated so badly. Think dado rails, stripy flowery wall paper and lots of chintz! So I've spent the last couple weekends decorating and I am tired! Its not completely done yet as we have furniture to build tomorrow and because the new carpet doesn't arrive till Wednesday or Friday, we won't have our wardrobes and new bed in until next weekend. It's all a bit hectic.

The whole process almost put me off my long term plan of getting our own home, actually it really doesn't!\the wall you can see is where I plan to put my new dressing table.....which I'm still looking for.

Hope you're all well and here is a progress picture to give you an idea of what's going on. As it's my birthday next week I should hopefully have some blogs up to share my busy long weekend with you all. And that reminds me, I was bidding on a Topshop blouse which I was planning to wear on the evening of my birthday but I forgot to check and lost out. Damn all this decorating, it's interfering with my clothes buying!!!

Any suggestions for where to look for a new dressing table?

a little surprise...

Hope you're all well and have had a good week, I for one am so glad the working week is over, bring on the weekend!

Today at work I was given a present, it was from our office cleaner who is such a nice woman. She has been dealt some bad card in her life and always seems to have the weight of the world on her shoulders. Yesterday my team, including the cleaner, were discussing ring sizes, as you do! I pointed out how I have skinny fingers. The today she came if and gave me a ring that belonged to her daughter who died around 3 years ago. I was touched by the gesture, I have no idea of the rings worth or history. Apparently the owner was a bit of a hoarder, I'm sure we would have got on very well!

The ring is very me, and here is a picture

The ring features 3 oval shaped stones. I did originally feel uncomfortable taking it but my friend did say it would mean a lot to her as she doesn't like the idea of her daughters belongings just remaining unworn.

All in all, the ring left me feeling very good and it's nice to think that my friend thinks enough of me to give me something that belonged to her daughter.

Have you ever received anything that made you feel warm and fuzzy inside?

Outfit of the night

As promised by my previous post, I managed to take a few pics before I went out last night.

My bargain £2 necklace from Dorothy Perkins.

Two bracelets from Primark.

Green slouchy top from Boohoo, see my previous Chelsea Boot Love and recent shopping, and Topshop Leigh Jeans.

Studded heel shoes bought ages ago from Linea, House of Fraser.

Really don't like this pic but it shows my green and black eye makeup.

Raspberry Daiquiri.

Apologies because I am really bad at taking pics of myself and had noone at the time to help out, but at least you get the idea. I had a fabulous time and had some lovely cocktails.

What did you get up to last night?

Happy Sunday everyone!
